- Diesel Fuel Filter: In cold weather, diesel engines have difficulty running efficiently while still warming up. This is because the diesel fuel coming from the tank is cold and very viscous. However, the fuel returning from the engine back to the tank is much warmer than what is coming out of the tank. On those cold days, our bimetal disc re-routes the returning fuel to instead go directly back to the engine. So the engine can now utilize the warmer fuel. Once the engine is fully warmed-up, the bimetal disc resets and the re-routing task is discontinued. In this way, the diesel engine can run much more efficiently and cleanly on cold days.
